The works comprise of the total refurbishment of the colleges original Grade II listed gymnasium building, which is located within the main campus with restricted vehicular access and only two double doors available to supply and remove materials from the building.

These restrictions required detailed coordination of trades and materials to ensure the planned sequence
of activities was achieved.

Initial works included the stripping out of all the existing M&E installations and removal of a viewing gallery and walkways.

Significant new structural openings were formed to open up the existing ground floor spaces involving complex temporary works together with the formation of a new staircase. The main structural works were the formation of a new mezzanine floor within the existing double height space gymnasium.

This floor was constructed within the existing space using a structural steel frame on new concrete foundations with a structural decking system and insitu concrete slab.

Once the new structural alterations were achieved the finishes sequence was commenced and included the installation of large structural glazed partitions on the new 1st floor slab to form spin and dance studios with sprung timber floors.

The client directly employed an audio visual installer to provide sound and displays systems together with kitchen and gym equipment providers. These works were integrated within the overall programme.
